This coffee comes to you from the Gayo Mountain region around Lake Tawar, near the northern tip of Sumatra.  The Gayo region strives to maintain stable economic and environmental conditions and to preserve the well-being of the community and its surrounding ecosystem.  This is a society with a rich and alluring cultural heritage.

Ideal for growing coffee, the area is characterized by abundant rainfall, fertile soil, nd an altitude o 900-2400 meters.  The culturally rich land also supports the growth o tobacco, sugarcane, tea, cloves, fruits, vegetables, and  variety of bean crops.  Coffee, however, is the main source of income for the people of this region and much care is taken in all stages of its production.
